Chance Perez, a former member of pop boyband In Real Life, is back with new music as a solo artist. He debuted his first single “Can’t Trust Summer.”.
Remembering In Real Life
Do you remember the boyband In Real Life? If you do, you most likely have heard of Chance Perez. He was a member of the pop band before they sadly split up in January of last year.
In Real Life was formed during the reality TV music competition series Boy Band back in June 2017. The ten-episode season series began with thirty young male vocalists competing to become a member of the new five-member boy band. After Brady Tutton, Chance Perez, Drew Ramos, Conor Smith, and Sergio Calderon Jr. ended up being the finalists of the competition; they all won the right to be in the new hottest boyband.
But sadly, not all bands stay together forever. After a good run for over two years together, the boys decided to go their separate ways in 2020. Now, Chance is back to continue working on his music career as a solo artist, and we are loving the result.
Chance is Excited For The New Chapter With “Can’t Trust Summer”
“Can’t Trust Summer” is a sunny pop track that arrives just in time before the summer ends. In the song, Chance expresses – as the title suggests – not wanting to trust summer and fall for someone; if it all is going to end at the end of the season. “You can’t trust summer. Sunkissed fall from grace. And I wish that she would stay. But she leaves like seasons change,” he sings in the chorus.
During an interview with Just Jared Jr., Chance opened up about the songwriting process for the song. “Originally, the writing process for ‘Can’t Trust Summer’ started in February of 2020. Sammy Plotkin, Stephen, and I were in Studio City one day for a session, humming melodies back and forth realized quickly, we had something good! We started writing some verses, going back and forth between the pre and chorus until we had constructed what was starting to sound like a reggae jam in the beginning!”
He added, “‘Can’t Trust Summer’ is an upbeat, ‘roll your windows down’ type track about that all-consuming love you can’t let go of. You know it’s wrong, you know you’re going to crash and burn, but you’re so desperately infatuated that you can’t say goodbye.”
