Camila Cabello Goes Diamond With “Havana”

Global pop star Camila Cabello just earned her very first RIAA diamond-certified song recognition, thanks to her hit “Havana.”

Camila Joins Cardi B as the Only Latinas to Achieve the Recognition

Camila’s diamond certification gives her a spot on the list as only the second Latina to accomplish this giant achievement. The first-ever Latina getting this milestone was Cardi B with “Bodak Yellow.”

Diamond certification honors songs that have sold 10 million units or more. Other stars who’ve earned the distinction include Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee for “Despacito,” Lil Nas X for “Old Town Road,” Maroon 5 for “Moves Like Jagger” and Ed Sheeran for “Perfect.”

“Havana is just the 62nd Diamond single certified in over 60 years of RIAA Gold & Platinum Awards – a historic achievement that’s only possible when an artist has forged the deepest and most lasting connection with fans, especially with about 60,000 tracks added to streaming service catalogs every day!” Michele Ballantyne, COO of RIAA, said in a statement to PEOPLE.

“It’s also a testament to the incredible partnership between Camila and her team at Epic Records. No doubt a sign of more great music – and huge awards – to come!” she added.

“Havana” Marked Just the Beginning for Camila’s Solo Career

“Havana” came out in 2017 as the first single that Camila shared as a solo artist; following her departure from Fifth Harmony. Since then, it gained worldwide recognition, and millions of streams within only the first week of its release.

“I am HONORED to earn a @riaa_awards Diamond single award and I hope this paves the way for many more incredible Latinx artists,” Camila wrote on her Instagram. “Thank you to my incredible co-writers and producers Frank Dukes, Ali Tamposi, Andrew Watt, Pharrell, Lou Bell, Brian Lee, Starrah, and Young Thug for being my collaborator on this. and thank you to my amazing fans. I love y’all.”

This summer, Camila released her first solo single in over two years. “Don’t Go Yet” arrived as the lead single off her upcoming third album Familia, which we can expect to be available later this year or early next year. Keep your eyes out for it!
