Indie-folk power trio “boygenius” has released their sophomore album on March 31st, called “the record.”

For The Record…

“The Record” expertly compiles three angelic voices and transforms the sound into something of its own kind. The album breathes life into boygenius, granting the trio the opportunity to live as its own entity. In this way, the group has successfully cultivated a genre of its own level. Boygenius grasps at all the strengths of its counterparts and produces a harmonic record that surpasses any expectations. From twin flame relationships to the bond of sisterhood, the trio communicates their feelings of trust and love in just under 45 minutes. It’s difficult to imagine the music industry before boygenius. And frankly, I don’t want to remember a time before this group came to be.

Overall, “the record” showcases the immense talent of these three artists and their ability to collaborate and create powerful and deeply emotional music. Whether you are a fan of one or all three members, “the record” is a must-listen for anyone who appreciates beautiful, heartfelt music.

Who Is boygenius?

Boygenius is a female trio consisting of singer-songwriters Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus. The group formed in 2018 and went on to release their self-titled EP that same year. Each member had already accumulated a following with their solo work, but their joint effort has since garnered widespread critical acclaim. As such, fans have been waiting for “the record” for quite some time.

Surely you have heard of at least one member of boygenius, the most notable being Phoebe Bridgers. She’s been nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys, as well as a myriad of other awards. Additionally, you may recognize her from features on songs with artists like SZA (Ghost in the Machine) and Taylor Swift (Nothing New). Speaking of Taylor – if you’re a swiftie, then you definitely recognize Phoebe from opening on a few stops on the Eras Tour.

The other members of boygenius include Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus. The latter has released three of her own albums, including “No Burden,” “Historian,” and “Home Video.” Final member of the trio Julien Baker has performed at Austin’s SXSW, as well as collaborated with an impressive array of artists. This includes Paramore, The Front Bottoms, Death Cab for Cutie, and Manchester Orchestra. It was Baker’s decision to form boygenius back in 2018 after touring with both Dacus and Bridgers. From performing on the same stages to creating music together, boygenius has come a long way. And they have quite the future ahead of them.
