Getting Closer to the Release of WEEDKILLER
After the long pause since 2021 singles “Daisy” and “Slumber Party,” the artist has officially returned. While waiting for the release of their debut album WEEDKILLER coming out this August, 25th, American rapper, songwriter and record producer Ashnikko (she/they), music name of Ashton Nicole Casey dropped their fifth single of the year, “Cheerleader.”
Following the release of previous “You Make Me Sick!,” “Worms,” “WEEDKILLER” and “Possession Of A Weapon,” the single joins the group of songs building anticipation of their first album.
On the wave of dystopian and post apocalyptic thrill, the artist has released a new single to confirm the direction of the soon-to-come concept album. Haunting sounds melted with a highly musical melody, surrounded by a bold and genuine rap make “Cheerleader” a strong hit. Cohesive with the rest of the vibe from the previous drops, the single embraces the emo rap influences in its daringly aggressive atmosphere. Ironic yet brutally honest on the meaning, the lyrics cuts through sharp as a blade.

Together with the single, the music video arrives to confirm the line the artist is following for this release. Playing with exaggerations and excesses in the representation of hypocrisy mixed blind adamantness, the video enhances the socio-political meaning of the single and takes a stand against superficiality and shallowness.
