Andy Grammer is back with his latest single, “Damn It Feels Good To Be Me.” In it, he talks about finally accepting himself and overcoming the hard years of his past life.
Andy Gives us the Confidence Boost we Needed
This year, Andy has been sharing incredibly uplifting singles. Starting off in April, he partnered with R3HAB for the dance-pop banger “Close To You.” A couple of months later, he was back with his first solo single of the year “Lease On Life;” which was inspired by the pandemic and the birth of his second child. Now, “Damn It Feels Good To Be Me” offers an upbeat and danceable tune, made for everyone who wants to boost their confidence.
In the new song, Andy reflects on how he was when he was a teenager and accepts that he’s finally ready to be himself. “I said stop tryna be the things that I’m not. Tryna be like everyone else. Tryna fit inside of that box. Oh-oh, you got magic inside of your heart. Had it right from the start. Copycatting’s dirty, nothing worse than being thirsty…I’m no good at being you. My philosophy, damn, it feels good to be me,” he sings.
“Damn It Feels Good To Be Me” is a Reminder to be Yourself
“The pandemic forced me to spend nearly two years stripped of the identity I had worked hard to create for myself in the world,” Andy shared. “I had the gift of time to re-examine a lot and realized that sometimes in an effort to fit in with culture I am tempted to turn myself down for the fear of not being accepted. So, I wrote ‘Damn It Feels Good To Be Me’ as a reminder to myself to follow the beat of my own drum. I want this song to be for those who have come to that point in their life where they’re just finally enjoying the freedom of self-acceptance.”
