What’s up, everyone? Welcome back for this week’s episode of Scored. This is a special one, because today, we’ll be taking a look at the latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Deadpool & Wolverine.

From Fox to Disney

Deadpool & Wolverine is the third film in the Deadpool series, and is the first in said series distributed by Walt Disney Studios, whereas the other two were done by 20th Century Fox. Directed by Shawn Levy, Ryan Reynolds returns as Wade Wilson, also known as Deadpool, and joining him in this zany trip across the multiverse is Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, reprising his iconic role after seemingly retiring from the character thanks to 2017’s fantastic sendoff, Logan. But this buddy-comedy wouldn’t be as fun without some throwback tunes to accompany all the mayhem and chaos happening on the screen! And I’m going to be talking about exactly three that will get that nostalgia flowing through your brain.

A Marvelous Soundtrack

The first song to mention from Deadpool & Wolverine is “Bye Bye Bye” by *NSYNC, used in a fantastic opening that perfectly sets the tone for the rest of the film. The second is “Like a Prayer” by Madonna, of which two different versions play during the film’s climatic act. One is the Battle Royale mix, and the other is a choir-heavy version. Both are equally effective in making an already great song even better! The third and last song is “Good Riddance” by Green Day, which plays during the end credits over a montage of some of the best moments from Fox’s earlier Marvel flicks. A truly heartwarming tribute set to a tender song.

And that’s a wrap! For more info on why these songs are worth re-listening to, check out the video below. And, for more stories like this here on Music Daily, click here.
