Harry Styles’ “Treat People With Kindness” video finally arrived, and, appropriately on the first of January.
The singer-songwriter wants 2021 to be kinder, so he started off the new year with a fun, cheeky music video. Titled “Treat People With Kindness” and including lyrics about feeling good, the song is laced with positivity.
Harry Styles coined the phrase “treat people with kindness,” often abbreviated to “TPWK” as the start of his solo career. In 2017, the rockstar began including the expression on stage, on social media, and even on his merchandise. It was only a matter of time before the gratifying phrase got it’s own, equally gratifying, song.
The optimistic, anthemic pop hit is an ode to being nice to yourself, as well as others, at all times. With a warm chorus of background vocals and beat driven claps, there’s no better Styles song to start 2021 with. And with over 11 million views in two days, it seems like many people believe that, as well.

The first time Grammy-nominee has released a music video for six of the twelve songs off his sophomore album, Fine Line. Fine Line dropped at the tail end of 2019, on December 13. The record topped every chart and quickly became a favorite of fans and critics alike.
Now, over a year since it’s debut, people are realizing that the record is to be a visual one. Half of the album has a video, including the Grammy-nominated “Adore You,” and fans think more are to come.
“Treat People With Kindness” has a vintage feeling to it, having been stylized in black-and-white and set in a speakeasy. It’s message, though, is timeless: be kind to everyone, everyday.
Harry Styles’ “Treat People With Kindness” video features Fleabag’s star, the beloved Phoebe Waller-Bridge. A fellow Brit, the actress and Styles exude charm throughout the video and, together, have phenomenal chemistry. Their cheery attitude, synchronized dance moves, and matching suits only add to the warmth and joy felt in the video.
Waller-Bridge and Styles play each other’s reflection, the feminine and masculine mirrors of each other. They shed their labels, stereotypical fashion choices, and rules of ballroom for a liberating romp around the stage. There is confidence and delight in their twirls, dips, and shimmies.
The upbeat song seems to have been made specifically for a fun, choreographed dance break. From the start, the 1920s-set video captures the essence of being happy and free – feelings that kindness can generate.
