ESSENCE Festival of Culture Returns
The ESSENCE Festival of Culture returns after a two-year hiatus to New Orleans, Louisiana June 30th – July 3rd. The festival began in 1995 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of ESSENCE Magazine. Now, it has expanded into one of the biggest Black culture and music events in the United States. After a recess, due to the pandemic, the ESSENCE Music Festival is back, with plenty to do and see.
ESSENCE CEO Caroline Wanga says, “The Essence Festival of Culture is a staple that celebrates community and empowers equity. We are excited to welcome the family back live, to New Orleans.” This year, the family includes a star-studded headliner roster.
The Lineup
On Thursday, catch Kevin Hart performing his “Reality Check” comedy sketch with host Kenny Burns. Then, on Friday raps very own, Nicki Minaj, takes the main stage at Caesars Superdome to round out the first night of musical guests. On Saturday, you can catch legend Janet Jackson on the main stage, in one of her very rare live performances. Finally, on Saturday, New Edition closes out the four-days of fun happening throughout the city of New Orleans with his headlining set. Additional acts include: The Isely Brothers, The Roots & Friends, Summer Walker, Jazmine Sullivan, City Girls, WIZKID, and more!
