Rapper yvngxchris just dropped an aggressive new album, Virality, featuring big names such as DC The Don and Lil Yachty.
Tik Tok Star
Similar to many upcoming artists today, yvngxchris first started out on Tik Tok. At only 16 years old, he posted his first song “Kyrie Irving,” using only n-Track and his phone to record it. It was here that yvngxchris realized he could make a living off music. Here’s what he had to say in an interview with Flaunt:
“I realized that back in October of last year when my first song started going crazy on TikTok, “Kyrie Irving!” I’ve always wanted to pursue music for a living, but I really noticed I could do it then. I’ll tell you the whole story behind this record. Basically it’s the middle of the night, I’m scrolling on TikTok. I saw somebody post their music, it got 5,000 likes. The music wasn’t the greatest so it made me say to myself “bruh, I can do the same thing.” I put my song on TikTok, then literally did the same thing. I recorded myself singing it, posted it. Thought to myself “Okay if it doesn’t blow up, then it doesn’t blow up. If it does, it does.” I literally woke up the next day to it at 5000 likes, like “yo this is crazy.” That was big at the time for me because I never had much interaction with my music until then.”
Since then he has blown up, with hundreds of thousands of views on each Tik Tok and over 1 million followers. His most popular song, “bitch im joe biden” has over 9 million streams on Spotify.
Dropping a Hard Debut Album: “Virality”
After teasing fans for months, yvngxchris finally dropped Virality and it didn’t disappoint. Virality is yvngxchris’ debut album, and has 8 crazy tracks. From the great flow across the album, yvngxchris’ quick rapping style, and the variety of instrumentals, this album has his fans extremely hyped. Most of the songs contain messages about yvngxchris’ rapper lifestyle such as women, expensive cars, and guns.
Throughout his album, he has features from rappers Lil Yachty, DC The Don, and Xlovclo. He additionally pays tribute to many other rappers such as Snoop Dogg through a reference in the chorus “Aint No Fun” as well as XXXTENTACION through “Serenity,” which is a whole song dedicated to the late rapper.
