Yeah Yeah Yeahs New Single Burning

American indie rock band Yeah Yeah Yeahs return after almost ten years with a new single and the announcement of a new record.

Burning

Formed in New York City in 2000, Yeah Yeah Yeahs were one of the main indie rock band of the 2010s. Hits like Heads Will Roll and Maps helped the band leave their sign in the genre. With 38,000 copies sold in its first week for their 2013 album Mosquito, Yeah Yeah Yeahs were on top of the world when they went on hiatus the following year.

Finally, after almost ten years, vocalist and pianist Karen O, guitarist and keyboardist Nick Zinner, and drummer Brian Chase returned with a new hit and the promise of a new record.

Hi! Feels so good to be BACK! A new record, we needed it and hope you do too.

Burning is the continuation of what the band’s paused in 2014, characterised by their personal and iconic disco sound.

“All that burning!” joked the band. “High time to cool it down with us, your pals, YYYS.”

Will their  new releases follow the same line?

A new record?

Yes, you heard right. The band is not only releasing singles, but the two latest were announced to be part of a new long awaited album release. The comeback album will be named Cool It Down, as they announced in June. Together with the album title, the band released their first-after-years single “Spitting Off the Edge of the World.”

The band wrote about the writing process behind the album:

“Writing these songs came with its fair share of chills, tears, and euphoria when the pain lifts and truth is revealed.”

They added:

“Don’t have to tell you how much we’ve been going through in the last nine years since our last record, because you’ve been going through it too, no shying away from the feels, or backing down from what’s been gripping all of us these days.”

The band also commented Alex Prager’s work with the cover. The band said that “Alex Prager’s image that graces record cover sums up how we’ve been feeling existentially! All that burning!

The album will come out on September 30th.
