Grammy-nominated artist Tyla has dropped three new singles in preparation for her upcoming debut album, Tyla.

Tyla’s “Truth or Dare,” “Butterflies” and “On and On”

Tyla has dropped three new singles off of her upcoming self-titled debut album. The songs, “Truth or Dare,” “Butterflies” and “On and On, came out last Friday, December 1, 2023.

“Truth or Dare” and “On and On” are in the same vein as Tyla’s other R&B pop songs. However, in comparison, “Butterflies” is much more intimate and simplistic in sound.

Tyla’s self-titled debut album is out March 1, 2024.

The Grammy Nomination

According to Variety, Tyla is intent on being the world’s first global South African pop star. Tyla’s July single, “Water,” became the Afro-fusion artist’s first Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Additionally, “Water” earned the artist a Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance.

In an interview with Variety, she spoke about the big moment of when she received a Grammy nomination.

“In all seriousness, I didn’t really think I was going to get nominated,” Tyla said. “But my label asked me to watch the livestream announce and I was so nervous … And then I saw my name pop up, and I died (laughs). I couldn’t stop screaming. I called my family and my best friend who travels with me. She came to my room and we just screamed and screamed.”

In an Instagram post, Tyla shared her thoughts on her GRAMMY nomination and her upcoming album.
