The Wonderful Alter Ego of Joe Keery: Djo

It isn’t a surprise that modern day people, especially those working within entertainment, try out many things. Some bands have actors or the other way around. Usually, there’s a semblance of attention thrown at those other professions. So, when I found out that some of the cast from Stranger Things have musical careers I was like: “Aight.” Then I saw that my favorite, nay, THE BEST CHARACTER: Steve Harrington has a solo career as an artist I was like “Sign me up!” Which brings us to now. Let’s take a dive into Joe Keery’s somewhat secret career as the wonderful Djo.

Style and Quality:

Djo’s style of music is something that brings me back to some of the psychedelic tunes from Pink Floyd. Wrap that up in a sound that’s more so alternative rock with a sprinkling of pop and you got something I’d listen to constantly.

In fact, that’s exactly what I’ve been doing. Listening to his album “Twenty Twenty,” from the jump I get the vibe I was mentioning above. But how about the vocals? I was super surprised to find that Joe Keery’s delivery is more so in the higher register. With an overall chill demeanor this one’s got all the pieces to become a favorite.

Highlights:

Here’s a short list of the songs I consider to be some of the best to get into Joe Keery’s alter ego Djo.

  1. Chateau (Feel Alright)
  2. Total Control
  3. Keep Your Head Up
  4. Flash Mountain
  5. Personal Lies
