“The Office” Star Leslie David Baker to Refund Fan Donations Received for Uncle Stan Spinoff

The Office won’t have a spinoff, or at least it won’t be Uncle Stan. Leslie Baker, who played Stanley Hudson in the series, was forced to refund fans donations after 3 years of waiting.

Baker’s project was to center the show on a retired Stanley who travels to Los Angeles to help his nephew save a motorcycle/flower shop. The actor had raised $110,000 out of an initial goal of  $300,000. But, at least for now, Uncle Stan remains stalled indefinitely following Covid delays and Hollywood strikes.

“We apologize about the delay in updates – wrote Baker in a statement. We’ve been working behind the scenes to get everything on track and rewards fulfilled. We are just as excited as all of you to get this project out and truly appreciate all of your patience and support. The project took longer than anticipated due to circumstances beyond our control. Initial delays were caused because of the Covid lockdowns and pushed us back further than expected”

By refunding his fans, the actor replies also to the accusations of “scamming.” Many donors were indeed really worried since it’s been 3 years without any news of the show. “The funds were never used for any purposes other than reward fulfillment and backer refunds. And have otherwise remained accounted for and untouched in the account”, the actor said.

Despite all the chaos around the Uncle Stan campaign, Baker still intends to make the show at some point in the future once the strikes will be resolved. But for now, The Office’s world remains on hold.
