The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’s 25th Anniversary Tour Expansion

Despite the controversy surrounding Lauryn Hill, her current tour celebrating 25 years of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill has recently extended due to popular demand among fans.

The L in Lauryn Hill Stands for “Late”

Lauryn Hill is known for much more than just her stellar vocals. Lately, she has also been synonymous with the word tardy after repeatedly showing up to her own shows hours late. To put it in perspective, fans joked online that Hill’s two-hour delay to her Los Angeles show was a sign of growth, as the singer showed up sooner than expected. For years, Hill has made a name for herself in the industry, from canceling a GRAMMY appearance with The Weeknd in 2016 to a series of canceled and postponed shows throughout her career. This is still relevant today, as Hill recently canceled her show in Texas only three hours before showtime due to a “serious case of vocal strain/injury,” (@mslaurynhill on Instagram).

Fans have taken to Instagram and Twitter to complain about Miss Hill, stressing that it isn’t fair for fans to worry about when the artist they paid so much money for would show up, if at all. Her latest response had some fans up in arms:

On one hand, fans have defended Ms. Hill, saying her performance more than made up for her tardiness. On the other hand, her behavior has sparked a conversation on privilege and the out-of-touch actions of celebrities. Swiping through her Instagram comments, it is clear that many people are fed up, contributing Hill’s excuse to a “toxic superiority complex.” Nonetheless, this has not stopped Hill from selling out countless arenas on her current tour with the Fugees.
