On August 3, The 1975 returned with their new single, Happiness. After the release of Part Of The Band, the band returned to another single from their upcoming album, From Being Funny In A Foreign Language.
Happiness
Happiness is a lively and upbeat song. The track does not stray far from the genre and sound proposed by the band up to now. However, especially when considered together with latest single Part Of The Band, it represents well which direction the upcoming album is heading to. The song includes funky guitars, a strong rhythmic bass and saxophones.
Speaking with Zane Lowe at Apple Music 1, lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Matty Healy discussed the new single:
“Happiness” is like… there’s literally loads of us in the room on that track. Locked eyes…Doesn’t really have much structure. It came through like jamming. And we haven’t done that in like years. So we just wanted this record to be really like a captured moment and not be too constructed and even produced that much…we did it in like a day or so. And it’s us having fun. And I think that there’s this real desire in art to see something remarkable with as little technology as possible. Do you know what I mean? Like you don’t need like Paul Thomas Anderson to direct a hundred meters.
Together with the song, the official music video of Happiness came out as well.
