I Hate U (Visualizer)
The video presents suggestive images of landscapes and natural places. With an overhead shot depicting the sea waves on the shoreline, the camera moves along the rocky shore. Overcoming the cliffs, we finally meet the protagonist of the video, played by none other than American actor and rapper Lakeith Stanfield.
Hidden in a cream-colored Mercedes 2400, hidden in the fog and darkness, the character opens the door shouting into the phone. This is where a kind of dance begins. The anger and agitation have slowed and the actor seems to be moving to the beat of the song. With a cigarette and a return to the beach, the video ends with a message on the character’s phone. The message belongs to the singer. In this way, SZA first appears in the video, and reminds us who is the real protagonist of this hit. In fact, the artist is not actually present in the video except for the “I Hate U” which lights up the phone screen.
