Good news for Sam Smith fans! The English singer-songwriter is recording a new album; so we won’t have to wait much longer to hear new music soon!
Sam’s last album was 2020’s Love Goes, so technically it hasn’t been long since the star has been out of the music scene. Also, after the album was released, they also dropped the single “The Lighthouse Keeper” only a month later. Last year, Sam joined forces with Summer Walker for the track “You Will Be Found,” which was featured in the movie Dear Evan Hansen’s official soundtrack.
Sam Writes Letter For Fans on Their Website
Well, Sam just updated their website to feature a letter dedicated to fans; which describes the singer’s efforts in writing the new album. “The last few months have been busy, to say the least. I have been buried in a pile of music. I’ve been having wonderful emotional journeys which is very normal for this part of the process. But this music is especially emotional for me and letting it go is going to be harder than ever; but I am excited to do so.”
“I’ve been through such a creative shift over the last few years. I have written 100’s of songs and taken my creativity to new levels. Exploring different genres and pushing myself in any way possible. I’ve loved it and it is my aim to make sure you hear that love and honesty in the music.”
“It’s not long now. And as I’m starting to prepare for my musical child to be released into the world, I want to, first of all, thank my day ones and I want you to know how much I value your love. But I also want to thank you for allowing me to be truly creative. I am an artist who loves ALL music, I love to be genre-less and I love to make whatever it is I want to make that day. I hate musical boxes, I hate boxes. And you have never put me in one.”

A Source Confirms the News
In addition, a source recently told The Sun newspaper that Sam is releasing the new album sometime this year. “Sam is back in the studio and is really enjoying the creative process again. Being in lockdown provided the time and space to try out new sounds and it will probably surprise fans. Sam has been in Los Angeles for weeks recording new songs so the project isn’t finished yet but the plan is for the album to come out this year.”
