“I want to build a community that can grow and come with me on my journey. And hopefully one day that can turn into something that the world can see and learn from.” Born and raised in Sydney, 19-year-old vocal prince SAHXL has been primed as one of Australia’s next breakout stars. The young songwriter released his debut album, NEVERMIND, in mid-May. SAHXL’s new project also includes the singles “DSYL” and “NEGLIGENT,” both of which have been highly praised by both the public and critics. NEVERMIND channels SAHXL’s ability to effortlessly blend genres of melodic hip-hop, pop and R&B while tapping into his vulnerable side. It definitely shows a surprising melodic and artistic maturity, which is hard to find when you’re underage. It is surely one of the most interesting R&B drops of the year by a Gen Z artist.

Who’s SAHXL?

Having written and recorded music in his bedroom since the age of 12 as a form of self-expression, music quickly became an escape from everyday life and a way for SAHXL to feel connected. At thirteen, SAHXL caught the attention of APRA Billion Stream award-winning producer Khaled Rohaim (Rihanna, Polo G, The Kid LAROI, OneFour) and has been steadily ascending since. Hailing from the hip-hop hotbed of Western Sydney, SAHXL takes inspiration from his area. But not in the way you might imagine. More recently, the Australian singer has earned praise from international tastemakers like Ebro Darden (Apple Radio) and fellow Australian star The Kid LAROI, and recently caught the attention of Tunji Balogun (CEO and President of Def Jam), inking a deal with the legendary LA-based label in late 2022.

NEVERMIND TOUR is Coming Soon!

A few weeks ago, SAHXL announced his first debut tour following the release of NEVERMIND. The Oaf Gallery (Sydney – June 13) and the Laundry Bar (Melbourne – June 28) are the chosen stages for the debut performances of the nineteen-year-old artist. A quiet start to a career that will very likely bring him great satisfaction.
