Twilight Terror‘s Deluxe Reissue
Pavement announced a deluxe reissue of their fifth studio album, Terror Twilight. The album was originally released in 1999 and was the band’s final LP. The reissue Terror Twilight: Farewell Horizontal, is due out April 8 via Matador. The 4xLP contains a whopping 45 tracks, with the remastered original album, b-sides, and home demos. In addition, there are rehearsal tapes, live recordings, and rough tracks from Pavement’s scrapped session at Sonic Youth’s Echo Canyon Studio. The physical copy of the reissue is complete with a book of never before seen photos and commentary from the band. Pavement also shared the previously unreleased track, “Be the Hook,” from the upcoming album. Check it out below.
“Be the Hook” starts off with the kind of muttered, off-the-cuff intro that we’ve come to expect from Pavement. Its a great track, with the same rawness and oddities reminiscent of Pavement’s early songs. One of the most notable moments is how Stephen Malkmus attempts to sing along to the guitar solo, squeaking out, “I, I, I’m a special guy, special guy, special guy.” “Be the Hook” fits right into the tracklist on Terror Twilight, leaving us eager to hear the rest of the b-sides.
