A surprising collaboration with Dominic Fike and Paul McCartney have created a rock song for the ages. Their single alone has people anticipating what else the former Beatles legend has in store for his remixed album.
McCartney III Imagined features an A-List assortment of friends covering their favorite McCartney III moments in their signature styles. The result is a warped interpretation of the album Rolling Stone tagged “an inspiration to us all”.
The first drop from McCartney III Imagined comes from singer/rapper/songwriter Dominic Fike. His cover of “The Kiss of Venus” blends the tender acoustic ballad into a retro-futuristic R&B banger.
The song has the classic structure of ballads that rock legends like the Beatles and Queen have been known for. However, it elevates the song with modern elements of electronic instrumentals and distorted vocals by Dominic Fike. Without a doubt, it is catchy and arguably better than the original.
In addition, a huge assortment of talent from all genres will appear on on the project. Ranging from Phoebe Bridgers and Blood Orange, to Anderson .Paak. The first single “The Kiss Of Venus” is so different from the original yet reflects the song perfectly, that it makes you wonder if all modern rock should sound this way.
Judging from the first hit, the selected artists will have a chance to completely “reimagine” Paul’s critically acclaimed work.
Paul McCartney’s Leading Work
Originally released December of 2020, McCartney III is the third in a trilogy of self-titled albums. Beginning with Paul’s 1970 solo debut McCartney and continued in 1980 with McCartney II. All three albums were written, and produced by Paul in states of isolation.
Recorded in lockdown, McCartney III topped album charts across the world. The project scored Paul his first UK#1 album in 31 years, and solidified him as the UK’s most successful chart act of all time.
Now, Paul McCarty is showcasing his unique creativity with the help of some of today’s most talented artists of this generation. This is the first time he has created such a unique project and so far it is paying off.
The full album will drop next month on April 16. Thankfully we have “The Kiss Of Venus” to keep us sane until then. Check out the music video for it below!
