On This Year’s Historic Billboard Music Awards

On November 19th, the Billboard Music Awards were live-streamed on various social media and website pages. With the various winners, the performances were hard to find given they were recorded on each nominated artist’s social media accounts and other unknown platforms. Canadian singer, Tate McRae, gave a performance very similar to her performances on Saturday Night Live. On one stage, she performed her hit single “greedy;” another performance included a killer dance sequence in the middle. With the award show’s many categories and winners, according to Billboard, here are the most notable: 

(Top) Male Artist: Morgan Wallen—also won Top Country Album as well for One Thing at a Time

Female Artist: Taylor Swift—also won Top Billboard 200 Artist 

Hot 100 Producer: Joey Moi 

Duo/Group: Fuerza Regida

R&B Male Artist: The Weeknd

R&B Female Artist: SZA

Latin Male Artist: Bad Bunny—won Top Latin Album as well for Un Verano Sin Ti

Latin Female Artist: Karol G 

Dance/Electronic Artist: Beyoncé—won Top Dance/Electronic Album for RENAISSANCE

Dance/Electronic Song: “I’m Good (Blue),” David Guetta & Bebe Rexha

Soundtrack: Barbie: The Album

Rap Album: Her Loss, Drake & 21 Savage

Top Rap Artist & Top Rap Male Artist: Drake

Rap Female Artist: Nicki Minaj 

Gospel Artist: Kanye West

Chart Achievement Award: Mariah Carey, “All I Want For Christmas Is You”

Selling Song: “Anti-Hero,” Taylor Swift

Streaming Song: “Last Night,” Morgan Wallen

Streaming Songs Artist: Morgan Wallen

Radio Song: “Flowers,” Miley Cyrus

New Artist: Zach Bryan 

Along with the notable wins and performances, the two artists who won the most were Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen. As Swift took home 10 trophies, tying with Drake for the winningest artist, Morgan Wallen topped it with 11 trophies in all. Quite the end to one historic night in music history.
