20 year old TikTok star Nessa Barrett is taking her debut album, Young Forever, on the road.
Nessa Barrett’s first TikTok video was of her lip-syncing to a sound, which blew up with over 250,000 views. As she posted videos more frequently of her lip-syncing to popular songs, she racked up a couple hundred thousand likes and gained 20 million followers on TikTok.
She began working on her music career, dropping her first EP Pretty Poison in 2021. The EP includes seven songs with some gruesome names like “i hope ur miserable until ur dead” and “i wanna die.” Though the songs have some dark names and lyrics, Nessa has a pretty large fanbase that supports it all. They love her authenticity.
“A lot of the stuff that I write about, it’s very personal and sometimes a bit painful to write about because I do use music to cope—it’s therapeutic for me.”

Nessa’s Musical Beginnings
The New Jersey native began her music career after releasing her debut single, “Pain,” in mid-2020. Since then, Nessa has already made so many steps toward making a big name for herself. For instance, in February 2021, Barrett worked with Travis Barker for the track “La Di Die,” which Barker produced. Barrett, Barker, and singer Jxdn performed the single live for Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
To add on, Barrett debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time with “I Hope Ur Miserable Until Ur Dead” at number 88. Barrett released her EP, Pretty Poison, on September 10th, 2021. This coincided with World Suicide Prevention Day, and is significant because Nessa openly talks about her mental health struggles in her music.
