Ne-Yo Celebrates 15th Anniversary of R&B hits

R&B veteran Ne-Yo has released the digital deluxe version of  the 2X platinum In My Own Words. In honor of the album’s 15th anniversary the singer song-writer, and TV judge, has some special gems for his day-one fans.

He’s also released a live acoustic performance of the former standout hit single from the project “Sexy Love.” UMe,Def Jam, and Motown are also releasing a documentary about the fifteen years of NE-YO’s life since the groundbreaking album. The documentary touches on his relationship with his wife, performing at George Floyd’s Funeral, and his inspiration for making art.

In Ne-Yo’s Own Words

Before the 2006 release, Ne-Yo made a name in the industry as a writer making hits for people like Rihanna. The debut album represented a departure from behind the curtain and into the spotlight.

Ne-Yo’s lyrics are strictly romantic and sweet throughout every track. The lyrical genius’ soothing melodies make it an easy listen. The re-release is just a reminder of why we started playing Ne-Yo in the first place. In My Own Words put him on the map, and just like the title says, this was the first time Ne-Yo was writing for him, from his own perspective.

The Anniversary Edition deluxe will feature six bonus tracks. The previously exclusive tracks “Girlfriend,” “Mirror,” and the acoustic versions of “So Sick,” and “Sexy Love.”

The Motown Records/Compound Entertainment recording artist has won three Grammy awards and honored with 14 nominations. The accomplished star has also finished his fourth and final season as a judge on NBC’s “World of Dance.”

His first single, 2005’s “So Sick,” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and was certified quadruple Platinum. Since then, he has racked up a collection of hit singles and made his name as one of the 2000’s R&B greats.
