MD Disc: Logic1000 Amasses Major Co-Signs Following Debut Album, “Mother”

Logic1000 has amassed co-signs from the likes of Dua Lipa & Empress Of in the wake of her debut, 'Mother.'

Australia’s Logic1000 broke out as a major name in the underground house scene with her 2021 EP, In the Sweetness of You, particularly highlighted by the Yune Piku-assisted “What You Like.” Majoring in hypnotic grooves and weighty sub-bass, the strength of her catalog meant that she was always poised to take the next step. However, 2024 has been a banner year. Here’s why you need to be paying attention to Logic1000, including her work with major artists and her own debut LP, Mother

Logic1000 Showcases Multi-Faceted Versatility With Mother

The Logic1000 story before this year is one that rings familiar for fans of house music: working the DJ circuit and providing listeners with a string of EPs and singles. Given that many artists continue on that path for years on end, it was somewhat of a surprise that she took aim at a debut album in the first place, but Mother arrived just as promised this March.

It’s a project worthy of both a full deep dive on our end and on yours, but infectious, endlessly repeatable songs like “Self to Blame,” “Promises” and “Every Lil” go a long way to elucidating its greatness. Each of those aforementioned tracks meet her lowkey brand of big room EDM (paradoxical as that may sound) with the talents of electronic vocal veterans, and the results are some of the best the genre has to offer this year. In between, Logic1000 serves up a grab bag of synthetic vibes, from the speaker-rattling “Heartbeat” to the tender, sample-heavy “Cartier.”

The Rebirth EP and “Illusion” Remix Amass Serious Star Power

Just a few months after the release of Mother (and a few weeks back at the time of writing), Logic1000 delivered a remix EP that brought an additional host of vocalists onto some of her standout instrumental cuts. Chief among them is “Side by Side,” which features a new performance by Empress Of, herself claimant to one of the best electronic efforts of 2024. Detached and tantalizing over top, she adds a new driving element to what was already a transfixing track, easily rising to standout status on the expanded version. Vv Pete and Vagabond each pitch in verses over “heartbeat” and “oceanic,” respectively, pushing the boundaries of Mother into hip-hop in the process.

While ostensibly the strength of this debut album prompted that group of artists to seek out remixes to Logic1000’s music, her work also elicited the inverse reaction. In the wake of Mother, the Australian DJ/producer stepped into the mainstream for an official remix of Dua Lipa’s “Illusion.” Again showcasing her incredible talent behind the boards, the song elevates the already stellar foundation the Albanian singer provides. That link-up showcases what so many of her fans already knew: with a bit of help and the right spotlight, Logic1000’s talents could easily propel her to a new stratosphere.

You can listen to Mother, the “Illusion” remix, and all of the Logic1000 catalog wherever you stream your music.
