It’s time to rock out to Måneskin’s newest single “Supermodel”
On their latest Måneskin, the Italian rock band gifted the music world with a fun-loving upbeat pop-rock jam. “Supermodel” takes inspiration from the Los Angeles modeling scene from which the song is inspired. Los Angeles culture inspired the funk-rock song, both in sound and in the themes.
“Supermodel”
Produced by Epic Records. It was written by Måneskin members Damiano David, Victoria De Angelis, Thomas Raggi, and Ethan Torchio, alongside Max Martin, Justin Tranter, Rami Yacoub, and Sylvester Sivertsen. The song was produced by Martin, Yacoub, and Sivertsen.
Jimmy on Bass
Måneskin rocked out “Supermodel” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on May 19, 2022. They requested the talk show host himself and he ended up providing a musical assist on the track, filling in for bassist Victoria De Angelis.
But after being taught a specific part of the song, Fallon remarked, “So I have that. I said, ‘I can do this. I can rock that. And I can go loud,’ so I’m going to do this for Vic.” He then proclaimed loudly, “I’m gonna do this for rock ‘n’ roll. I’m gonna do this for the world.” Fallon also rocked the star look by sporting a blonde wig with bangs.
Los Angeles Inspiration
Måneskin explained: “We wrote “Supermodel” after spending the best few months in L.A. At times we were surprised yet intrigued to find how people cared so much about the idea of ‘celebrity’ and status, obsessing over their looks and connections. We started to imagine an enigmatic Supermodel character. She is really cool, fun and social, yet in reality she is troubled, hiding sadness and addiction. In a way you love her, because she knows how to have a good time, but you also want to avoid her, because she might get you into trouble.”
Way back in high school, when she was a good Christian
I used to know her, but she’s got a new best friend
A drag queen named The Virgin Mary takes confessions
She’s a 90s supermodelYeah, she’s a monster, my compliments
If you wanna love her, just deal with that
She’ll never love you, more than money and cigarettes
Every night’s a heartbreak
Måneskin brings the once classic sound to make it thoroughly modern. Bringing rock and roll back to the top of the international charts, perfectly mixing it with contemporary tastes.
From Busking to Crushing it
Måneskin rose to fame in the TIK TOK scene with their very popular song Beggin’. The four-piece band began busking on the streets of Rome as teenagers, and a few years later, the group is widely hailed for being at the forefront of driving a worldwide resurgence of rock music. They have skyrocketed from the massive support of social platforms, nationwide radio, an opening slot invitation from THE ROLLING STONES, and multiple breakthrough stateside TV appearances such as “The Tonight Show”, “Ellen”, and “The Voice” and American Music Awards. This boosted their popularity and they won the iHeartRadio Music Award for “Best New Alternative Artist”.
Following their performance at Coachella, being declared as “The Breakout Artist” of the entire festival, Måneskin’s will kick off their extensive “Loud Kids Tour” on October 31 with a sold-out gig in Seattle. From there, they will travel around cities including New York, San Francisco, Atlanta, and Washington and a newly added date in Los Angeles before embarking on their sold-out European leg in 2023.
We are all looking forward to what the Rock band has for us next!
