After almost ten years since their formation, French-British noise rock group Mandy, Indiana releases their debut album i’ve seen a way.
i’ve seen a way
The band was created in 2016, when vocalist Valentine Caulfield and Mandy Scott Fair met at a Manchester club. Soon after, Simon Catling and Alex Macdougall joined the group on synths and drums respectively. The newly formed group started releasing hits, immediately well-received from the public. Songs like “Berlin,” “Bottle Episode,” and “Alien 3.”
The album was highly anticipated with the release of four singles: “Injury Detail,” “Pinking Shears,” “Peach Fuzz,” and “Drag [Crashed].” Just like the first released singles, I’ve seen a way is a tenacious and full-of-tension release, on the verge of jump scaring with its violent and strong sound. Dance rhythms are intensified by loud and unexpected choices of sound, synths, and loud machine noises. The entire album accompanies repetitions of French verses in a pressing, beating, and anxious emphasis on the concept of concern and apprehension.
In the organized mess and confusing aggressiveness of the sounds, discomfort is the main emotion portrayed. The band effectively transmits a sense of uneasiness throughout the entirety of the release.
