‘Patience is a virtue’ Lorde Tells Fans After Her Four Year Hiatus
Fans all over the world are celebrating and rejoicing after Lorde announced she will be releasing new music… finally! We haven’t heard new Lorde music in almost four years, since she last released Melodrama in 2017. Lordes website, lorde.co.nz, shares a cover photo for her new song, or album, Solar Power. Underneath the art shares a one-line message, “Arriving in 2021… Patience is Virtue.” That statement could not be truer for any artist other than Lorde. Fans had to wait four years since her sophomore album Melodrama for this announcement. Before that, they had to wait 3.5 years to hear Melodrama after her debut album Pure Heroine.
Fans are ecstatic because they never knew when to expect this. Last year Lorde announced that she had “recorded some new music,” with her Melodrama collaborator Jack Antonoff in Auckland and Lost Angeles.
Email To Her Fans
In November, Lorde had send out an email to her fans after her trip to Antarctica. “I realized after the trip that what my brain had been craving was a visit to an alternate realm… Albums live in their own realms in a way, and Antarctica really acted as this great white palette cleanser, a sort of celestial foyer I had to move through in order to start making the next thing. In the plane coming down to land, I had this very intense bolt-of-lightning thought, which in all its eloquence was literally ‘DON’T MAKE SHIT RECORDS’, lol.”
“The World is Healing”
As quickly as expected, fans took to Twitter to react to the announcement. “The World is Healing,” some fans exclaimed after finding out about the upcoming release:
One fan claiming all other artists should step aside, and might as well quit making music. Since Lorde is coming back, that’s all we’ll need to listen to.
Another fan sharing that Lorde “literally” has the power to change the trajectory of his early 20’s. That’s a lot of power placed into Lordes hands. I wonder if she’s aware of that.
