Lana Del Rey Writes a Love Letter to Los Angeles on “Arcadia”

Lana Del Rey is back with her newest single, “Arcadia.” Celebrating the release, she shared the big news that her upcoming album, Blue Banisters, will be available on October 22.

Lana Isn’t Taking Breaks From Music This Year

She has been growing anticipation for her new album Blue Banisters for quite a few months now, since April. Just one month after the release of Chemtrails Over The Country Club, Lana announced a new album was already on the way. Set to originally be released on July 4, the album ultimately had to be pushed back. Now, fans officially have a date they can look forward to, as Blue Banisters will be out on October 22.

“Arcadia” lands simultaneously with the album announcement. It is the fourth single from the album that has been released so far. In May, Lana released three songs in one day, giving a first hint of the album. “Wildflower Wildfire,” “Text Book,” and “Blue Banisters” are all going to form part of Blue Banisters.

A New Chapter Begins

This single is a ballad that is a tribute to the city in California, close to Los Angeles. In the music video that she self-directed, Lana elegantly dances along to the song while singing along. “I guess you could say this album is about what it was like, what happened, and what it’s like now,” Del Rey wrote in an Instagram post prior to the song release. “If you’re interested go back and listen to the first three songs I put out earlier. They chronicle the beginning.”

“[‘Arcadia’] hits somewhere in the middle and by the time the record drops you will hear where we’re at today. As much as the ongoing criticism has been trying, it at least has pushed me to explore my own family tree, to dig deep, and to continue to exhibit the fact that God only cares about how I move through the world.”
