Kodak Black has released “Last Day In” after being pardoned by former President Donald Trump mid January. The song serves as Black’s freedom celebration of getting released prior to the end of a 46-month sentence.
“Last Day In” is a nod to Kodak’s previous song “First Day Out,” which he released on June 15, 2017, after serving a 33-days sentence for violation of house arrest.
‘Last Day In’ finds Kodak rapping emotionally about coming back to his hometown of Miami as he shouts out his mother, Zoe Pound gang, Donald Trump, and his lawyer.
Kodak Black’s Pardon
During his last full day in office on Jan. 19, Trump pardoned more than 100 people, including Kodak, Lil Wayne and Death Row Records’ Michael “Harry-O” Harris.
“Trump just freed me, but my favorite president is on the money,” he raps. “All they hatin’ presidents has become evident to me.”
In 2019,the Florida rapper made false statements to buy a firearm to land himself in jail. Once in prison, Kodak made claims that guards and corrections officers tortured him while imprisoned.

This is Kodaks first drop since his 2020 November album Bill Israel that came out during the rappers prison time. The project was well received, but did not get nearly as many streams as previous 2018 album, Dying to Live.
Black Is Back?
The new song tells a story of struggle and gratitude Kodak now feels. He is focused on mental growth and maturity this time around and his music seems to be a reflection of that. From the topics he hit on, to just how quickly Kodak released this track, the 23 year-old rapper looks to be showcasing a Kodak Black we’ve never seen before.
Kodak Black still faces first-degree criminal sexual misconduct charge in South Carolina, stemming from a 2016 incident. However now that he’s free, be on the lookout soon for more drops.
