King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s music philosophy

It’s rare to see meet such a successful band for which music isn’t only connected directly to money, but first based on a passion. This album is their second foray into heavy thrash metal. The six piece band is led by main songwriter, Stu McKenzie, who unbelieveably at 32 has helped guide them through releasing 24 albums in 14 years. The group has spent the past ten years dropping multiple project per semester, once even reaching over 12 albums in a year.

With what seems infinite amount of creativity, inspiration and dedication, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard became the representers of not only a genre, but of a style of music creation. The desire-driven production results in a passionate, continuous release of different and various work. The projects cross musical boundaries and discover new horizons that allows the band to their state of constant improvement. Moreover, the constant production allow the group to also drop projects that don’t take themselves too seriously and are even ironic at times, making their music even more appreciable, true and sincere.

PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation

PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation represents the group new attempt to explore not only a genre, but their personal approach to music. The album led the group to discover once again a new side of their potential, increasing the effectiveness, depth and beauty of their productions.

The musical growth is another inevitable consequence, driven by the constant challenge of the band’s limit. By traversing the musical boundaries of a genre far and wide, the group is able not only to find the best of it, but also to go beyond these conventional limits and land in new and unexplored worlds. This explains why the group has inevitably become one of the pioneers of today’s progressive music, in which “progressive” is understood both in a concrete sense and in a broad sense.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard therefor appear as one of the most cohesive yet innovative, avant-garde and inventive bands around.
