The Perfect Intro with ILLENIUM & Spiritbox’s “Shivering”

Grammy-nominated artist Nicholas D. Miller, a.k.a. ILLENIUM has perfectly infused EDM with Heavy Rock on his latest track: “Shivering”. To get this blend he’s collaborated with none other than, metalcore group Spiritbox! Without further ado, let’s get to the good stuff.

The Song:

Starting off with what one could mistake for a generic electronic open, before it’s utterly destroyed by the voice of Courtney LaPlante. ILLENIUM then goes straight into the chorus with intensity and that sweet sound of metalcore guitars backed up by screaming in the background. This is reminiscent of the more organic Solence and their various music. A compliment for sure considering that anything that reminds me of those guys is a great sign. I tend to really dislike anything heavy metal. Not a fan of how a lot of bands just blend together in terms of overall sound and offer nothing but intense instrumental. While that will most likely put a target on my back, hear me out. This is special. This is what I would consider a unique and epic introduction to the more intense vocals portrayed in heavy metal. The productioin of ILLENIUM and Spiritbox’s contributions make it something of a marvel to sit and listen to.

The Verdict:

ILLENIUM has music ranging from screaming in the back adding such raw emotion to the electric guitar and manufactured sounds of EDM. It makes me want to look deeper into the artists involved. Hopefully it does the same for you, and maybe we’ll find something we never thought we’d like. That’s it for now. For more on your favorites and unknowns check out our Word and Drops sections.
