An outspoken and bold advocate of social justice, multi-Grammy award winner Halsey makes big waves again by announcing her decision on a recent tour to auction original paintings to support abortion funds.
Halsey Donates to the National Network of Abortion Funds
The paintings? Halsey created herself on stage while performing on her recent tour Love and Power! There are five paintings in total, each worth up to $7000. Each painting features an avant-garde display of facial features and facial emotions. Additionally, Halsey herself has signed each of the paintings. Fans can bid upon each painting up until July 19th, and can also view the paintings on a free, public exhibit at Sotheby’s in New York that also ends on July 19th.
The charity? In light of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, all proceeds will be given to the National Network of Abortion Funds to support abortion access.
Halsey’s Stance on Abortion
As a woman who has gone through an abortion herself, Halsey is an adamant supporter of abortion rights. In fact, abortion saved her life, as she suffered three miscarriages before she was even 24. During one of those miscarriages, the doctors said that she might die without an abortion. Even after the birth of her son, Ender, she remained vigilant in her stance:
“My abortion saved my life and gave way for my son to have his. Every person deserves the right to choose when, if, and how they have this dangerous and life-altering experience.”
Halsey’s Love and Power tour finished its thrilling conclusion on July 9th, and overall was very successful, with completely sold-out shows all throughout her tour.
