“El Comienzo” by Grupo Frontera Wants to Redefine Mexican Music

Grupo Frontera is finally out with their new album El Comienzo. The band from Edinburg, Texas, comes from a year when literally all eyes were on them, thanks also to some huge collabs. You’ll remember “un x100to” (Bad Bunny), “TULUM” (Peso Pluma), and “DE LUNES A LUNES” (Manuel Turizo).

And well… El Comienzo, besides being their debut album, includes all of Grupo Frontera’s greatest hits. It’s a good mix of what they’re best known for: regional Mexican, northeastern norteño, and cumbia.

There’s also an impressive guest list, which includes (in addition to the ones we mentioned before) Junior H, Grupo Firme, Yahritza Y Su Esencia, Carin Leon, and Ke Personajes. And another surprise, but this is mainly for those who have followed the band for quite some time.

We’re talking about the live version of “NO SE VA,” their Morat cover that went viral and got Grupo Frontera their first big numbers (7 titles on Billboard Hot 100 and 10 on Hot Latin Songs).

El Comienzo talks about love, passion, and heartbreak, both in lyrics and productions.

Grupo Frontera is on a mission which is to redefine Mexican music in all forms. Will they get to their goal with their first album? Possible, desirable, but also unsure. Only time will tell.
