Download Festival 2023 Welcomes Metallica & More!

2023 will mark the 20th anniversary since the first Download Festival . And the organizers decided to celebrate it big!

Download Festival 2023
“We’re psyched to celebrate Download Festival’s 20th Anniversary with not one… but two nights on June 8 & 10, 2023! It’s been over a decade since we last visited Castle Donington so we’ll make up for lost time with 2 unique sets with no repeat songs whatsoever that weekend.” (Twitter @Metallica)

Headlining Acts Of Download Festival

Download Festival will host 60 acts to perform in the four-night event. For the first time since the festival’s big opening in 2003, there will be not one, but three headlining performances.

From Thursday June 8 until Sunday June 11, Derby’s Donington Park will host three of the most important, pivotal and respected bands in the history of metal and hard rock. Starting with the band who made the genre what it is today, birthing the the hardest and angriest version of rock in the 80s: Metallica. The legendary band will headline the first night! And, that’s not all. In fact, the band will return on stage to headline the third one as well!

The band went online to release a short statement promising “two unique sets.”

“We’re psyched to celebrate Download Festival’s 20th Anniversary with not one… but two nights on June 8 & 10, 2023! It’s been over a decade since we last visited Castle Donington so we’ll make up for lost time with 2 unique sets with no repeat songs whatsoever that weekend.

“We are next-level honored to once again come back and partake in the Download shenanigans on the hallowed grounds of Castle Donington, which has an unparalleled place in rock history. On top of that, to be able to share our double show format with two completely unique sets with no repeat songs for the first time ever in the UK is way f***n’ cool. Bring it on!”

On the second night of Download Festival, Oliver Sykes’s Bring Me The Horizon will perform. Finally, to conclude the 20th celebration, Slipknot will headline the final concert on Sunday, June 11. Slipknot’s Sid Wilson commented the band’s participation:

“Download Festival! So many great memories, one of the most amazing crowds to play in front of, always an honor to share the bill with so many amazing bands, and of course, I’ll never miss the opportunity to play my homeland.”
