TikToker and dancer Charlie D’Amelio becomes now a singer: “If You Ask Me To” is the star’s new single.

With the incredible following she gained from her TikTok platform, and the the people around her being singers and musicians themselves – see her sister Dixie D’Amelio and friend LILHUDDY, for Charli D’Amelio a career in music was almost guaranteed.
D’Amelio went on her social profiles to announce the drop, saying:
my first single ever ‘if you ask me to’ is out now on all streaming platforms!!!! i’m so excited and happy i get to share this with you all finally it was so fun to make and i really hope you like it
The tiktoker, now singer, discussed the release of her first single with INSIDER. D’Amelio told the paper that she has “always loved music and performing.” Thanks to her following and the support she got through TikTok, she decided to embrace the passion. However, at first she wasn’t sure this was the best choice for her.
“Once my online following started growing I was able to showcase my passion for dance, but I felt that with so many other people entering the music space there wasn’t room for me.
However, thanks to her father’s support, she decided to give singing a try.
“With my dad’s encouragement, I got into the studio at the beginning of this year just to pursue singing as a hobby. With each writing and recording session, my love for the process grew, and I became incredibly proud of the music we were making.”
“I tinkered with it and changed up some lyrics and production over the last several months and got it to a place that made me truly happy,”

Together with the song, the official music video of “If You Ask Me To” came out.
The video will follow the “journey of teenage heartbreak” and “conveys the difficulties of watching someone move on,” according to a press release.
