Ari Lennox is an irresistible R&B siren on the new single “Hoodie” as she unveils the title for her sophomore album “age/sex/location.”

R&B and Neo-soul Lennox singer shares a similar affinity for warm, oversized hoodies on the smooth second single from her sophomore album. So much that she literally desires intimate, sexual ventures while wanting to fit into his North Face. Lennox’s voice soars on the track, singing, “Spread it like some queso / Tangled up on your waist / Dreamin’ of how you taste / Underneath your North Face.”
However, we know that hoodies are for one person to wear, not two. And that dilemma is what fuels these incessant thoughts of lust. On the chorus, the doo-wap and wails turn her lyrics into a plea, “Can I fit in that hoodie? I’m tryna play in that hoodie.”
As Lennox walks to her love interest (played by rapper Isaiah Rashad), she takes her time showing off her toned figure in a bikini. Perhaps this mundane act doesn’t compare to her unattainable fantasies for pleasure. However, Lennox’s inescapable pleas of belts and high notes don’t seem to satisfy her. In the end, she wins that prized hoodie, but not before realizing that her man dished it to everyone else first.
What We Know About “age/sex/location” by Ari Lennox
The follow-up to Lennox’s critically acclaimed debut album Shea Butter Baby (2019) will be out September 9 under J. Cole’s Dreamville Records (Interscope). Titled “age/sex/location,” this project will be the R&B singer-songwriter’s first in over three years. The album’s first single, “Pressure,” became her first No. 1 on the Billboard radio chart last year.
Although “Hoddie” is the only solo material Lennox released this year, she stayed relevant through multiple collaborations. Most notable, in 2022, she collaborated with her fictional love interest Isaiah Rashad’s “Music (Where He Is).” Other 2022 collaborations include Arin Ray (“What It Is”), Buddy (“Coolest Things”), Bas (“The Others”) and EarthGang (“Run Too”).
