Adult Swim Festival Takes Over Philly

Adult Swim Festival FlierAdult Swim Festival Makes its East Coast Debut

The Adult Swim Festival is making its way east for the first time.  The music festival-con happens in Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood August 5th-7th.  The creative festival includes: art exhibits, film screenings, comedy shows, and live music.  It began in Los Angeles where it was hosted in 2018 and 2019 before debuting in Philadelphia this year after two virtual festivals in 2020 and 2021.

Music, Comedy, Film and More

Music headliners for the block party include Run The Jewels, DethKlok, and Philly native Tierra Whack. However, the three day event is more than just music.  Comedians playing at the festival include Sam Jay, Maddy Smith, Carmen Christopher and more.  Additionally, you can attend viewing parties of shows like Toonami, Birdgirl, and YOLO: Crystal Fantasy.

Unlike most festival’s, you cannot purchase a pass to attend all the events for a day or weekend.  Instead, it will operate more like a film festival where a ticket is needed for each event.  The festival takes place at multiple venues in the Fishtown area: The Fillmore Philadelphia, its upstairs venue, the Foundry, the Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia, and the Punch Line Philly.  With a ticket to a performance at any of the venues you can attend the shows happening outside at the block party.

Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen said about the event that, “Fishtown is the perfect setting for what promises to be an unforgettable celebration of the city, Adult Swim, and top talent who are at the forefront of the music and comedy worlds”

Additionally, the Adult Swim Mural Project will launch in the city.  The project teams up with Atlanta non-profit, Living Walls.  Together, they spotlight growing Black artists creating murals in cities like New Orleans and Atlanta.

Other artists performing at the festival include Hop Along, Flo Milli, Spirit of the Beehive, Snacktime Philly, Eshu Tune, and many more.
