The Black Pumas Set To Perform At Grammys After a Crazy Year

After absolutely blowing up in 2019, Black Pumas were ready to take the world by storm in 2020. Unfortunately, like most artists, they couldn’t capitalize on their immediate success due to the pandemic, until now. The psychedelic rock soul duo is now set to perform at the 2020 Grammys this Sunday, March 14.

The group joins the show’s all-star lineup alongside Bad Bunny, Cardi B, BTS, Doja Cat, Billie Eilish, and many more.

The band’s 2019 debut album, Black Pumasis nominated for the night’s biggest award: Album of the Year. Their hit single “Colors” is also up for nomination for Record of the Year and Best American Roots Performance.

Even with obstacles of the year slowing things down, Back Pumas managed to make the past few months unforgettable. Following their sold-out tours early in 2020, Black Pumas had a year full of virtual performances and appearances. This included NPR’s Tiny Desk series and even the Biden/Harris Inauguration.

But with such heavy nominations and a highly anticipated performance, this weekend’s Grammys will mark their biggest live moment yet.

The Black Pumas Big Break

The Americana soul band based in Austin, Texas is led by singer/songwriter Eric Burton and guitarist Adrian Quesada. The unexpected duo, 13 years apart in age, joined forces in 2018. Soon after their partnership, they spread like wildfire across the internet.

Their self-titled debut album received acclaim from everyone in the industry. Publications like Rolling Stone praised the charismatic energy of singer Eric Burton and their cinematic construction of songs.

With their first-ever project a hit and legendary hardware potentially coming their way, it is safe to assume Black Pumas are the future of music. Their soulful, yet grungy sound has proven to be timeless and universal. And with so many listeners quickly becoming fans, we can’t wait to see what two have in store for the years to come.

Be sure to tune in to the Grammys to see the Black Pumas this Sunday at 8 PM EST/ 5 PM PT on CBS.
