24kGoldn’s El Dorado will be the hip-hop star’s debut album. Surprised? The San Francisco native was lucky to make it big right out of the gate. So while many feel like the musician has been around awhile, it’s been through a slew of successful singles.24kGoldn’s second single, “Valentino,” dropped January 25, 2019. At the time, the musician was only a couple months into his college career at USC. 24kGoldn, who was born Golden Landis Von Jones, was studying to be a hedge fund manager. The University of Southern Caliofnia’s Marshall School of Business didn’t create that, but can take credit for spawning a megastar. As Golden’s career took off, he maintained being a student. He believes that “kept him grounded,” and he was excited about adding to his education. Regardless, he saw music as a dream that was presenting itself to him. Therefore, he chased it. That second single of his, his first big hit, “Valentino,” reached the Billboard Hot 100. It peaked at No.92 and was certified platinum a few months later. That is no small feat for an independent musician and up-and-coming rapper.Since then, he has released music alongside Yungblud, DaBaby, Olivia O’Brien, and Iann Dior. His collaboration with the Dior was on the alternative hit, “Mood.” Blending urban sounds with a pop rock beat proves to be a success. “Mood” is all over live radio and streaming platforms, reached No.1 on the Billboard charts, and is certified 3x platinum.
