Join us in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with an awards show that you don’t want to miss!
Broadcasting on September 29th, the 36th Hispanic Heritage Awards will feature a variety of iconic artists receiving different awards. Most notably, Café Tacvba is the recipient for the Arts Award, and Wisin (formerly of Wisin y Yandel) will receive the Vision Award.
Recognizing Hispanic Icons, New and Old
Mexico-based group Café Tacvba’s name being among the award recipients is long overdue. In fact, the group has been hailed as “Latin rock’s most transcendent band” by Rolling Stone, who later went on to say that the band has defined the “cutting edge of Latin alternative music.” The group formed back in 1989 and has continued to make waves in the music industry ever since. Winning a multitude of GRAMMY’s over the years, Café Tacvba has always left and will continue to leave its mark on Latin America with their iconic discography.
Moreover, a Music Daily favorite will also be among the list of award recipients. Omar Apollo will be receiving the Inspira Award—a high accolade that pays tribute to his work inspiring youth.
“We are thrilled to recognize Omar Apollo with our Inspira Award because he is an authentic role model to youth not only through his tremendous talent as an artist, but also through his representation at the complex intersections where many in our community stand – Latinx, American, LGBTQ and other features that make him such a powerful spokesperson. His advocacy and his music are often intertwined, which make for an even louder sound.”
-Antonio Tijerino, HHF President and CEO
