Discover Junie & TheHutFriends

Started in Pittsburgh, Junie & TheHutFriends is an indie-pop band that came to completely turn over the genre. Vocalist Junie Grey and her six masked bandmates, TheHutFriends, have in fact introduced an innovative and creative perspective and approach to the genre, taking advantage of both music, technology and animation.

From 2018, when the singer first collaborated with her soon-to-be bandmate, Tall Friend, for her YouTube channel, Junie Genius. The group, which later on a few more members joined, released their first single in 2019, “AngstMode3000.” The single introduced Junie & TheHutFriends and their original, funky, impulsive and unforced sound, alongside with a music video that featured the band being chased by a group of evil robot in a mall. The use of animation later re-appeared, becoming one of the key features to distinguish the band from their colleagues.

When It Rains

“When It Rains” is the latest single by American alternative band. The single lays on a spontaneous, ironic and light-hearted melody. The goofy instrumentals and choirs results in a catchy and unforgettable single, forever stuck in your head with its repetition of the title throughout the entirety of the song.

On the opposite note, the song also discusses deeper themes in the lyrics, mentioning personal integrity and superficial appearance. The singer in fact warns the listener – imagined as the interlocutor – that they are not good people, and that they should leave. In the song, the rain is used as a metaphor to introduce harsh emotions and problems to deal with, one of them being the relationship with the direct pictorial interlocutor.
