2024: The Year of the Ariana Grande Takeover

AG7

The AG7 (Ariana Grande’s seventh album) era is right around the corner! Ariana Grande has finally given us multiple updates and teases for the new project. After three years of waiting for Grande to even announce she was working on music, we’re ecstatic she has broken the silence. The speculation of new music stemmed from her removing her profile photo from YouTube. Moments later, she posted a picture with frequent collaborator, Max Martin. Arianators instantly thought this meant they were creating together and were right on the nose.

Vulture says Grande is working alongside two quintessential pieces to the formula of making Ariana’s hits: Ilya Salmanzadeh and Max Martin. These producers worked together on multiple tracks for the infamous “thank u, next.” The singer has not released a project since 2020 with positions, marking her longest hiatus from the music scene. She has been working on both parts of the film Wicked as Glinda the Good Witch. According to Variety, Grande had ten days of filming left and abruptly halted activities due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. During this time, fans hoped she would start to work on music, as they have been waiting eagerly. The infamous pop singer broke her silence before 2024 struck with a cryptic post to her Instagram.

The Social Media Teases

On Grande’s Instagram account, she posted a series of photos and videos with the caption,”see you next year ♡.” The photos include a notecard sent to fans of Grande with red lips. On the note, it says the same thing as the caption. Other pictures and small clips of Grande show her in the studio. When you scroll to the last slide, Grande is taped crying as someone asks her, “Is this almost the last day of the album?” She also wiped the posts of her old Instagram account, “@sweetneer,” and posted the link to sign up for future updates.

The album has seemingly wrapped up and will be released when we least expect it this year. Martin and Salmanzadeh have teased AG7 themselves with story posts of the “💋” emoji. According to JustJared, Grande announced that there will be no snippets for this era. This is possibly due to several unreleased tracks leaking from the artist. On Spotify, Ariana hit 99 million monthly listeners for the first time in her career. This era is going to make her even bigger as she is the third most-listened-to artist globally. People are eager to hear the new project and it is rumored to be different from anything previously released. Will you be tuning into Grande’s long-awaited return?
