Summer is over, meaning so is the concert season. Looking back, this has been an extreme one! Tours and dates were filled with injuries and accidents. From Dua Lipa to Rage Against The Machine, Summer spared no one. Join us and let’s look at the biggest ones.
Rage Against The Machine’s Onstage Accident
In July 2022, Rage Against The Machine, released a new album, Live & Rare, presenting their live performances from 1993. Since then, a lot has changed, but the band is still rocking. However, summer 2022 tour didn’t spare the band’s singer, Zack de la Rocha. The 52 year-old rapper reportedly tore his Achilles tendon in Chicago, early on in the band’s “Public Service Announcement” tour. For this reason, the tour was soon cancelled.
Later on, the band also released a statement discussing the de la Rocha situation.
“Unfortunately it is a moment that requires a lot of work and healing. I have a severe tear in my left Achilles tendon and only 8% of my tendon was left intact. And even that portion was severely compromised. It’s not simply a question of being able to perform again, but extends to basic functionality going forward. That’s why I’ve made the painful and difficult decision to cancel the remaining shows on our 2023 North American leg.”
Addressing the fans, de la Rocha added:
“I hate cancelling shows. I hate disappointing our fans. You have all waited so patiently to see us and that is never lost on me. I never take that for granted. For you I have the ultimate gratitude and respect.”
Mirror’s Concert Brings Political Consequences
During one of the concerts of Hong Kong boy band Mirror, two dancers suffered serious onstage accidents. In particular, one of the two, Mo Li Kai-yin, 27, had undergone five weeks of treatment. Afterwards, he even needed the help of a ventilator to breathe. Luckily, the dancer is now able to breathe independently, but still faces a risk of complications from the excessive build-up of mucus.
The concert and the accident had some important consequences, even dealing with politics and international safety. In fact, a politician revealed that authorities imposed an improvement in safety to avoid more accidents to happen.
Dua Lipa Details Injuries In Tour Documentary
Dua Lipa was considering filming her Future Nostalgia Tour, and it might contain some surprises. In fact, the singer repeatedly fell while on stage, performing her hit “Be The One.” In the same point of the choreography right during the chorus, the singer tripped both in the Milan and Barcelona concerts. Should we expect a change in the choreography?
