Global pop star Shawn Mendes has canceled the remainder of his tour dates in North America, the UK, and Europe.
Shawn Will Focus on Mental Health
This is some very sad news for Shawn Mendes fans (including me.) Earlier in July, Shawn took over to social media to announce that after eight tour stops in North America, he had decided to postpone the tour to a later date due to mental health concerns. Unfortunately, now he has given an update, and it looks like we won’t be able to see him perform live anytime soon.
Shawn revealed that the Wonder World Tour had started to take a big toll on him, and after not setting foot on a stage for years due to the pandemic, coming back to a huge world tour was not doing any good for his well-being.
Shawn’s Note to His Fans
In a heartfelt message to his fans, Shawn shared the news. “As you guys know, I had to postpone the past few weeks of shows. I started this tour excited to finally get back to playing live after a long break due to the pandemic, but the reality is I was not at all ready for how difficult touring would be after this time away.”
“After speaking more with my team and working with an incredible group of health professionals, it has become more clear that I need to take the time I’ve never taken personally, to ground myself and come back stronger. I, unfortunately, have to cancel the rest of the tour dates in North America, and the UK/Europe.”
He Will Still Work on New Music
Shawn ended the note by adding that he will still be working on new music, and is hopeful to see everyone on tour in the future. He also apologized to the fans that have been waiting for a long time to see him live, but he promised to come back better than ever when it’s the right time to do so.
We hope Shawn has a healthy recovery and are glad that he is prioritizing his well-being! Earlier this year, he released the new single “When You’re Gone.”
