If you’ve been following me for a while then you’d know this one’s a long time coming. One of the earliest pieces I had the joy of covering was the Megan Thee Stallion drama. Specifically, the whole ordeal with Megan Thee Stallion and her record label being total… well, let’s just say that they weren’t very nice to the star. If you want to catch up on the lore click here. Outside that, I’ve got some more details that have recently surfaced thanks to AMAs wrapping up. I’m your friendly neighborhood writer, and that’s what I’m here to find out. Let’s get into it.
Big Oofs By Label And Big Claims By Megan Thee Stallion:
Alright, so what’s the latest on the case? First and foremost, Megan went ahead and filed a restraining order against her label and distributor: 1501 and 300 Entertainment. If you’re wondering why – trust me it’s a doozy. According to Megan Thee Stallion, these people have been making an active effort to block and diminish her stardom/presence at the AMAs. Further, claiming that it would do “irreparable harm” to her career. Next she was granted this restraining order and even set up a hearing for the 22, which so happens to be today!
So let’s summarize, shall we? And this is for all of you who didn’t bother to catch up on the lore.
- Megan Thee Stallion countersues her record label over what constitutes an album. Doing so in an attempt to establish that she’s been taken advantage of.
- Her label claims that her recent drop Something For Thee Hotties does not constitute an album, hence she’s still within contract.
- Megan Thee Stallion got a restraining order to allow her to exploit and advertise herself and her music for the AMAs.
- Today’s the court hearing!
Will Megan Thee Stallion win the case and gain her freedom? Not entirely sure! We’ll have to keep a close eye on that! We’ll keep you posted. For more on your favorites and unknowns check out our Word and Drops sections.
