On July 29, pop superstar Lauv took over Chicago during one of Lollapalooza’s official after-shows. He wasn’t alone, though. His girlfriend Sophie Cates joined him as she served as the opening act for the evening.
Sophie Cates Kicked off the Night
Doors at Park West opened up at 10 pm sharp. At the sold-out event, hundreds of fans got together to see Lauv and Sophie Cates perform live at the official Lollapalooza after-show. Some of them, even, joined in after spending all day surrounded by music on the first day of Lollapalooza.
At 11 pm, Sophie Cates appeared on stage wearing a beautiful white long-sleeve crop-top and black skirt, matched with a stunning pair of black leather boots. She warmed up the crowd as she sang her most popular hits. She even played with her autotune machine on stage and showed her love for music while playing her electric guitar.
Almost toward the end of her set, she announced that the next song she was going to play wasn’t released yet. Called “Moments,” the song was a sweet ballad about her boyfriend Lauv, who surprised Sophie herself alongside the hundreds of fans when he ran across the stage to say hi to his girlfriend. Sophie was clearly emotional but kept singing the song to her lover. They danced together and even kissed before Lauv left the stage.
After a 30-minute set, Sophie said goodbye to the audience and introduced them to the next and main performer of the night: Lauv.
Lauv Got Emotional When Performing
Lauv took over the Park West stage at 12:15 am. Opening his set with fan-favorite “Drugs & The Internet,” he got everyone in the crowd dancing and singing along. His energy was apparent, and he transmitted it to everyone present.
Lauv performed some of his most heartfelt songs such as “Paris in the Rain,” “Tattoos Together,” “Feelings,” “Lonely Eyes” and “Chasing Fire.” Expressing how happy he was to be able to sing live to fans again, he also got emotional when he noticed that the entire audience knew the lyrics to his songs.
His most popular hits also made an appearance throughout the night. Among them, Lauv performed “f*ck, i’m lonely,” “i’m so tired…” and “Modern Loneliness.” Before saying goodbye, he made sure to close out the night with his biggest hit. Of course, we’re talking about “I Like Me Better.”
Both Lauv and Sophie made sure that fans had a unique experience at the show. They interacted with the audience and stayed engaged the entire night. Tell us! Have you seen Lauv live in concert before?
