Lana Del Rey has released a 7″ vinyl of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ with the proceeds going to Liverpool FC’s charity.
Del Rey’s cover of the timeless song is no less vocally heartfelt than any of her original tunes. It is no less sonically compelling either, as the rendition features an orchestra, a signature of her sound. ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ is her latest (and the last, unless she surprises us again) music release of 2020. In October, the singer dropped ‘Let Me Love You Like a Woman’. It’s the lead single off her forthcoming album Chemtrails over the Country Club. The album will be her seventh full-length release and 2021’s response to 2019’s Norman F**king Rockwell.
This year Del Rey also dipped into the poetry world. In late September, she released Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass, a collection of original poems.
Lana Del Rey: Soundtrack Queen
The song was recorded for the Liverpool FC documentary, The End Of The Storm, as ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ is the soccer team’s anthem. Del Rey previously shared a video of herself recording the song last month on Twitter.
This is the third song Del Rey has done for a documentary soundtrack. This is the first non-music oriented documentary she’s been involved in, having previously released ‘Elvis’ for the 2017 film on the titular legend, The King, as well as a version of ‘Doin’ Time’ for the 2019 film Sublime; the latter song later would make its way onto Norman F**king Rockwell.
All proceeds from the vinyl’s sale will go to the official charity of Liverpool FC, the LFC Foundation. The charity’s focus is on improving the livelihoods of children and youths. The vinyl can be bought online via LFC platforms.
