This summer, the legendary Four Chord Festival celebrates its 11th anniversary with yet another stacked lineup. Performances from BLINK 182, Jimmy Eat World and AFI are just the tip of the iceberg for the two-day festival.
Pop-Punk in Pittsburgh
The 11-year anniversary of Four Chord Festival continues the now decade-long plus trend of bringing punk to Pittsburgh. Since 2014, Four Chord and the festival’s founder Rishi Bahl have celebrated the rugged and rejected—the only difference now is the scope. What started small has now grown to need a space as large as the Carrie Furnace last year. Not only is the Carrie Furnace huge, but it’s rich with history and meaning. This year it will return to nearby Washington, PA in EQT Park.
In an interview with Billboard, Bahl explains, “We’ve been trying to get in there for a while.” Most importantly, he emphasizes how this “aligns with the ethos of the festival and its blue collar, independent, DIY and anti-Live Nation endeavor.”
The Lineup
This year’s Four Chord Festival promises two days of punk perfection, kicking off with BLINK 182 and Jimmy Eat World. State Champs will return again this year. Bowling For Soup, Home Grown, and Set Your Goals will follow suit. The festival founder, Rishi Bahl’s band, Eternal Boy is also set for the 13th. Rounding out the first day are Knuckle Puck, Driveways, Charly Bliss, Patent Pending, Keep Flying (another returning band) and Boy in Blue Stripes.
The following day is just as packed, starting strong with headliners AFI and trailblazing Jawbreaker. Following these headliners are The Wonder Years, Alkaline Trio and Say Anything. The last stretch of the festival will feature Face To Face, Drug church, Punchline, KOYO (from last year) DeathByRomy, Sincere Engineer, Like Roses, Runt and Mallory Run.
Tickets are available now at Four Chord’s website. For information on all upcoming shows and festivals, check out Music Daily for more.
