Empire Springs Debut “Broken Glass”

Progressive rock band from Birmingham, AL, Empire Springs, released their electrifying debut single, “Broken Glass.”

Empire Springs’ Debut Single “Broken Glass” is Here

“Broken Glass” arrives as the debut single of Empire Springs. Composed of bassist/vocalist Brett Bellomy, guitarist Michael Naro, keyboardist Chadwick McDowell, and drummer Ethan Standard; the group began as “a studio project between college friends,” according to Bellomy.

A few of them had played together in other projects, and once Bellomy started truly focusing on his songwriting; they decided to unite for Empire Springs (named after “an exit sign in Empire Country for Blount Springs”). They spent the next few years practicing their creative and performative skills; which required “practicing a lot and playing local shows” to cultivate their sound and “learn respective roles in the band.”

Their Debut Album, The Luminescence, is Coming in April

Turns out, those countless hours of hard work paid off. Empire Springs are gearing up to release their debut album, The Luminescence, on April 29. “Broken Glass” is just the first taste they offer from the album, so we have a lot more to look forward to.

“We tried to be tasteful and subtle with it, but every song has at least one melodic link to another song.” It even channels the cyclical nature of Pink Floyd’s 1979 opus, The Wall, by having “the last piece fade out over the same melody that appears at the start of the album,” says bassist and vocalist Brett Bellomy of the album.

As Bellomy recounts, they wasted no time building a regional reputation as an extremely passionate yet affable group. “We connected with other bands in our area musically and personally, and we played together constantly.” Eventually, they were able to book bigger shows as part of “Birmingham’s Holy Trinity of Prog;” a three-band lineup that also included heavy post-rock troupe Lasting Impressions and math rockers False Jasmin.
