Doja Cat Stars In Her Own Horror Film For ‘Demons’

“Demons” is the latest single from controversial musician Doja Cat, off her forthcoming album, Scarlet. Los Angeles-based singer and rapper unleashed “Paint The Town Red” in early August. The single currently holds the fifth spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and even has its own TikTok dance. If “Paint The Town Red” hits number one on the Hot 100 this week, it will mark the first solo female rap song to do so since Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl” in 2022.

Doja Cat Responds To Critics In New Single “Demons”

Debuting a new, high-pitched, quirky voice on the verses, Doja shuts down critics once again. “Demons” has the same braggadocious tone and subject matter as her previous two singles: “Attention” and “Paint The Town Red.” The singles center around debunking the criticism and controversy thrown at her as of late. Specifically, “Demons” bashes the commentators that call her “demonic.” It’s like a demon takes over Doja’s body in the chorus, as she shifts to shouting in an aggressive tone, “Yeah, how my demons look / Now that my pocket’s full? / How my demons look / Yeah, now that you b*****s shook?”

Doja sees all the name-calling and attributes it to their jealousy of her successful music career. “I’m a puppet, I’m a sheep, I’m a cash cow / I’m the fastest-growing b*tch on all your apps now / You are tired of me ’cause I’m on your a** now / You are mad at me ’cause I am all they slap now,” she recites in a spoken word-like rap.

Updated Scarlet Release Date & Cover Art

On Tuesday (Aug. 29), Doja Cat revealed the cover art and the release date via Instagram for her fourth studio album, Scarlet. The highly-anticipated LP, featuring “Demons,” will be out September 22. But, Doja quickly took down the post after fans pointed out the resemblance between the Scarlet album cover art and that of metal band CHAVER. Artist Dusty Ray was credited for both album covers. Two days later, on Thursday (August 31), Doja Cat updated the album’s artwork to a different spider, designed by the same artist.
